Scenic British Columbia, Vancouver Island Photography Blog

Welcome to Scenic British Columbia, A Vancouver Island Photography Blog

Please bare with me as this is still a relatively new project, and I have a ton of ideas for this site. As time goes by I will be adding more advanced features. I hope you enjoy the photos of my travels, and day to day life on Vancouver Island. Cheers, Daryl Quenet, Vancouver Island Photographer.

Cormorants at Elk Lake

February 04, 2007 (0 Comments)

With the crisp winter air, it felt like an invigorating day for a walk down by Elk Lake. So with the family in tow off we headed to the Lake. Although we only ended up walking for around 20 minutes I found this set of Cormorants sitting on a log drying off. Cormorants are unique as they don't have the normal waterproofing oil found in most coastal birds so they have to sit outside of the water to dry off, and are a common sight in Victoria.
