A Walk at Swan Lake Christmas Hill Nature Sanctuary

Swan Lake Nature Sanctuary is an urban nature sanctuary in Victoria, Canada offering birdwatching, hiking and natural history programs. Its located in Saanich, and is surrounded by homes. If you want a short walk surrounded by wildlife look no further then Swan Lake.
For the children there is an educational nature center to learn about the environment and wildlife around the park. Unfortunately for my photos the day was overcast, but I had a good walk with the family.
The paths of swan lake spread around the entire lake.

I frequent Swan Lake Nature Sanctuary 2 to 3 times a week traversing the round the lake "Loop" walk. Something nearly always happens to make this a rewarding experience. Today (Aug 25th 2008) I came across a guy tasting some attractive red berries which he was spitting out because, he said, they tasted bitter and generally unpleasant. I recognised them as Deadly Nightshade exactly as depicted in one of your photographs and recommended he spit out as much as possible !! -
