Welcome to Scenic British Columbia, A Vancouver Island Photography Blog

Please bare with me as this is still a relatively new project, and I have a ton of ideas for this site. As time goes by I will be adding more advanced features. I hope you enjoy the photos of my travels, and day to day life on Vancouver Island. Cheers, Daryl Quenet, Vancouver Island Photographer.

Frosty Flower in Winter

December 01, 2007 (607 Comments)

Having to take to the bus stop in the morning is definitely not something that I look forward to. Between the frosty, the rains, and just the cold weather in general I'd rather be inside. But then I wouldn't be getting photos from a different perspective constantly looking around at macro environments that would have been missed.

Bird on the Hedge & Gyro Park

November 25, 2007 (460 Comments)

Theres a reason I always try to carry a camera with me, you never know when you'll miss a good shot. Here are some birds on our hedge.

After this lucky shot we headed off to Gyro Park off of Cadboro Bay Road. Gyro Park has a great playground for kids, and a good view of the Ocean. Although in the Winter it becomes one big pond.

An Early Christmas Present: Canon 30D

November 21, 2007 (962 Comments)

I came across a used Canon 30D on UsedVictoria. Luckily I managed to talk my parents into throwing my Christmas money towards this camera. Although it is definitely no Canon 40D, I am still very happy with this camera. I also found after upgrading from my Canon Rebel XT to my Canon 20D both camera have different accessories. Part of getting the Canon 30D was to sell off the Rebel XT and get two cameras with the same accessories.

Chum Salmon Spawning at Goldstream Provincial Park

November 04, 2007 (628 Comments)

Every year I love to visit Goldstream Provincial Park in Victoria BC to see the Salmon Spawn. Sadly I always seem to have bad with having it cloud over every time I plan a trip. Goldstream Provincial Park is also located between mountains, so it receives limited light.

The Salmon Run at Goldstream mainly consists of Chum Salmon, as well as Chinook and Coho.
